Ketogenic Diet

The ketogenic diet consists of a mix of high-quality fats and protein foods, as well as non-starchy, vitamin-rich vegetables.  The diet eliminates sugar, flour, starch, fried foods, sweetened beverages and low-quality, processed foods.  Relying more heavily on the usage of fat for energy, ketosis is proposed to speed up and increase weight loss, appetite suppression, stabilizing blood sugar. lowering insulin levels, enhancing mood and eliminating "trigger foods".

Low Carb (Ex. Atkins Diet, Dr. B Diet)

Paleolithic Diet

Also known as Paleo, Primal, Real-Food, Ancestral or The Caveman Diet.

The lifestyle is simply about eating whole foods that provide better fuel for your body and avoiding processed, refined, nutrient-poor, factory produced foods.  The diet eliminates grains, legumes (beans), refined sugar and pasteurized dairy products.  The Paleo diet aides in achieving optimal health, reducing or even eliminating symptoms associated with common health disorders, improving how you look & feel and often leading to lasting weight loss!

Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)

The origin of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet stems from trying to help (and heal) patients with digestive disorders.  SCD is about eating certain kinds of carbohydrates, and other foods, that aide in digestion and healing.  The diet is proposed to repair damaged intestinal lining, achieve a healthy balance of intestinal bacteria, improve absorption of nutrients and reduce the inflammatory response that occurs with many digestive issues and diseases.  The diet is not an elimination of ALL carbohydrates, just the most complex & difficult to digest.
